For many travelers, a
journey, whether abroad or even within their own country, can become an
exploration of culture and community, an investigation both of
diversity and of commonalities. In his new exhibition, Regina
photographer and writer Gary Robins takes us along as he journeys along
the streets of urban and small town Cuba. Along the way, we encounter a
sense of curiosity, openness and generosity that defines the Cuban
peoples' strong sense of belonging and community. "Cubans are among the most considerate and respectful folks I've ever met," says Gary. "Their strong sense of family and the graceful way they support their own communities were a pleasure to be a part of." His documentary photographs bring us a glimpse of a unique and colourful society attempting to embrace both its traditions and the continuing legacy of the Cuban Revolution. |
