| Gary Robins is a commercial
and fine arts photographer based in Regina, where he owns and operates
Available Light Photographics and Design. He is currently an instructor
in the two year Applied
Photography program at the Wascana Campus, of the Saskatchewan Institute
of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) in Regina. He has taught
previously as artist-in-residence at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre,
and also at the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College. He also chairs
the national Student
Program for the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC).
Active in Saskatchewan's
cultural community, he is a former member of the Regina Arts Commission,
serves on several committees for SaskCulture, and is a long time member
of the Saskatchewan
Professional Photographers Association (SPPA), the Saskatchewan Craft
Council and CARFAC Saskatchewan. His most recent exhibition was a
selection of documentary photographs, Chiapas/Oaxaca: Images of southern
Mexicoat Traditions Gallery in Regina.
Gary has been a resident
of Saskatchewan since the late 1970's and now makes his home in the Cathedral
neighbourhood of Regina. His work has appeared in a variety of publications,
including Maclean's, Fine Woodworking, Canadian Living, Briarpatch,
Canadian Art, Guitar Maker, Canadian Gardeningand The Craft Factor.
His photographic prints are held in a number of private and public collections. |
